After 4.5 hours of flight time, I touched down in Chos Malal, Neuquen (SAHC), marking a special milestone: my first solo flight of the adventure. With over 50 hours of flight time since I left, this solo journey felt uniquely exhilarating.

Weathering the Storm
Heading west, I encountered intense weather over Santa Rosa, La Pampa. Carefully analyzing satellite images, forecasts, and observing the storm through the window, I navigated through the turbulence with minimal bumps. The freedom to prioritize my own comfort level, without considering a passenger’s well-being, was liberating.

Andes Encounter
As I approached Chos Malal, descending over elevated terrain, unexpected turbulence hit hard. Slowing down the plane ensured a smoother ride. Strong winds transformed my landing into a helicopter-like experience: Diana’s wheels touched down coming to a stop in under 30 feet!

Tomorrow’s Plan
Chos Malal’s airport, nestled in the mountains, boasts a recently remodeled facility with a pristine runway. Unfortunately, fuel is not available, so tomorrow I’ll head north to explore the Domuyo Volcano and Payunia natural reserve, refuel in Malargue, and then land in Chapelco (San Martin de Los Andes), where I’ll reunite with my cousins. I’m excited for what’s ahead!
