#6- Sunrise from the Clouds

Yesterday, we reached Fort Lauderdale Executive (KFXE) in 6 hours, and we are still on track with the plan. Our early morning IFR departure treated us to stunning sunrise views above the clouds. For the first few hours, ground visibility was zero, but cloud formations captivated us. Soft light danced across their rounded peaks, creating an ever-changing landscape.

Early morning, up in the clouds

Flying high at 11,500 feet, we enjoyed a 45-knot tailwind and optimized engine performance by running lean. This combination allowed us to cover incredible distance quickly with minimal fuel.

Today, we embark on a new challenge: flying over vast waters to Puerto Rico. It’s my first time, and I’m both nervous and thrilled. First-time jitters mix with excitement, but months of preparation bolster confidence.

45 kts tailwind and a groundspeed of 187 kts! That‘s great! Enjoy your flight and good luck!
