#21 – The Long Way Home

Tomorrow, I embark on the third and final phase of my adventure: the return to California. It’s hard to believe that my time in South America is coming to an end. Over the past two months, I’ve accumulated countless experiences, memories, and lessons learned.

A Week of Reconnection

Last week, I spent quality time with friends and family in Buenos Aires, dancing Tango and immersing myself in the city’s vibrant culture. A highlight of my week was flying with my brothers and nephews to Isla Martin Garcia, a surreal island in the Rio de la Plata with only 150 inhabitants. Due to the busy airspace around Aeroparque, we flew at 1000 feet, offering a unique perspective on the river.

Planning the Return Journey

After careful consideration, I’ve decided to retrace my steps, but with a twist – stopping at different airports along the way. On Friday morning, I’ll depart for Campo Grande, Brazil, where I’ll spend my first night. Having learned from my previous experience, I’ll avoid entering or leaving Brazil during the weekend. By Monday, I hope to reach Grenada, where I’ll take an extra day to rest and enjoy the stunning beaches. If all goes according to plan, I should be back in the continental USA by Thursday, with a weekend arrival in California.

Mixed Emotions

While I’m excited to return home, I’m also aware that it will be challenging to adjust to the routine of daily life in California. The nomadic lifestyle has its perks, but I’m looking forward to settling back into a more predictable rhythm.
